Renovating an Old Leg Vise

Addition - scroll down for some images closer up, to help anyone
needing to try and make a spring and/or the mounting block etc.

Due to a suspended floor in the shop instead of concrete, this old leg vice had not been used, seeing as one major factor is that the leg should sit supported in a small hole in concrete and so, be able to transfer very large vertical impacts. This poor old thing had languished outdoors in all weathers for about 12 years.
Despite prolonged exposure, corrosion was actually not as bad as might be imagined, although the pivot pin was seized. Dismantled the whole thing - wire wheeled and wire brushed back to a fair surface and then painted it. Reassembled and set it up in what will be a final location. To achieve sufficient strength for wall mounting, a length of hardwood will be secured with lag screws across three studs and then the vice mounting angle piece bolted to that with lag screws. Being under the shop eves, it should not get too much direct weather, and is in the lee as well.
