MKll Radius Ball Turner - Re-tooled Yet Again
| We chopped a worn 1/4" drill and used that for this trial. Real simple grind was done of around 15° rake, which when in the tool holder becomes perhaps 5° or so... albeit done very quickly just to try out the concept. Results quite encouraging thus far and will make a new tool and set up for a full ball test soon. We used the cross slide advance method, but will also soon try the fixed cross slide approach with this tooling, using adjustments on the boring head and locked cross slide. Cut feels fairly incisive. |
