Lathe spindle brake project - rethink#2
| This hopefully could be the final answer once set up. The decision is to use the end of the motor shaft - actually part of the thrust system for pulley operation. It has a 5/8" bore and so we could make an expanding arbor to suit that, as well as mounting the recently received bicycle rear disk/rotor (from China!). The included caliper is a cam operated device and seems very effective - the main challenge will be mounting it and, setting up some form of caliper actuation system - cable operation being the favorite choice. |
