Gadgets and Gizmos Part 2

A first look at specific items of tooling or ancillary equipment after the introductory videos and Gadgets and Gizmos Part One. In this video we look at two ways for improvised dividing using the lathe headstock and employing two spare gears. One is a 72 tooth unit and is used unaltered -- the other is turned down to remove teeth and grooved to accept 100 ball bearings. This latter is used for 1:100 divisions, typically when scribing a lead-screw scale. Both these examples required a special expanding arbor for the headstock spindle rear and both have separate detent points to suit indexing.
