Inexpensive RPM Meter for the Lathe/Mill/Drill

High end strobe instruments for measuring RPM's are super expensive and out of reach, but, needed something to assess my speeds better than an earlier method. To that end, found an eBay item (DT-2234C+) for the amazing low price of $15, incl shipping! Easy to use - working on laser reflection feedback off a white marker - and on evaluation it seemed more than adequate, with a theoretical range from very low up to 99,000 (it says!). For super low speeds they suggest using two reflective markers and then divide reading by 2. It has yet to be calibrated but accuracy would seem more than enough for its prime purpose. Also shown briefly is a Harbor Freight 6" digital caliper, which with a promo coupon, cost the huge sum of $10! It would seem to be surprisingly accurate when tested against high end calipers and mics. As a spare very well worth that small investment.
